Over a century of hospitality in Pollença
Founded in 1907 as the Hotel Cosmopolita, the Hotel Juma has been at the heart of Pollença’s main square ever since. Five generations of the Cifre-Ochogavia family have kept the tradition alive, combining a deep respect for the building’s heritage with all the 21st-century comforts.
1907: The birth of a pioneer
Joan Ochogavia Cifre transformed a plot on the Plaça de la Llibertat into the town’s first modern hotel. Ahead of his time, he fitted the building with unheard-of luxuries such as electricity and running water, quickly making it the go-to destination for the island’s first visitors.
A haven for artists of the Escola pollencina
For decades, our rooms and salons were at the centre of cultural life in Pollença. The hotel played host to celebrated figures from the worlds of painting and literature, including Anglada Camarasa and Santiago Rusiñol, who found in the Juma both a home and a source of inspiration, all under family’s attentive hospitality.
From Cosmopolita to Juma
In 1956, under the stewardship of María Cerdà and Juan Ochogavia, the hotel was reinvented following a renovation by architect Josep Ferragut. It was at this point that it took on its current name, ‘Juma’, an acronym of its owners’ names that has come to stand for the blend of history and renewal that defines the hotel today.
